La Casa de las Flores

“La Casa de las Flores” is a brilliant Spanish tv show about a dysfunctional family who run a flower shop. And a fitting name I have pinched for this photo series.

After my mum died suddenly in 2019 I found great solace in the many flowers that flooded the house. Every morning I would descend the stairs after not having slept yet another night but the scent and sight of flowers were enough for me to forget how exhausted I was for a moment. It brought back fond memories of running around the garden as mum watered, planted and mulched over the years.

These flowers are a 50% mix of bought flowers and 50% snipped in the nighttime. Before anyone lectures me on the ethics of floral procurement - these were snipped from random street facing bushes that would be considered as economy flowers.

Flowers to me today keep her close.
